Graham Owen
The reason I have chosen this photographer 'Graham Owen' as one of my photographers to explore even more into his work is because of his technique he uses in his work. For my personal project I am focusing on the technique close up as this is my project brief. Therefore by Graham Owens work being close up makes his work very inspirational for me. I especially like the warming and variety of tones in his work as this makes the whole photograph look very striking.
This photograph is a close up photograph of a butterfly stationary on a plant. The colours in this photograph contain very dark tones which makes this photograph look very mysterious. The photographer has captured this butterfly almost at the centre of the page. This will allow the viewer to be drawn directly to the main focus of the butterfly. I especially like how the plant is covering the whole background to allow the vibrant blue's on the butterfly to stand out and look very eye catching. In addition by using the technique close up allows the detail of the plants and butterfly to be seen much clearer as one of the main points about fine art is it allows the human eye to see beauty that they may not come across in their every day life.
This photograph is very good inspiration for my personal project close up. This is because this photograph includes the technique close up. The greatness about using close up in this photograph is that it it allows the shape of the dragon fly to be hilighted as well as the detail and colours to be seen much clearer. In addition what I find very intriguing about this photograph is how the dragon flies full body isn't in the shot. This is very interesting because it isn't an average photograph of the dragon fly in the centre of the photograph. However it allows a certain part of the dragon fly to be seen even more closer in contrast with the background. Furthermore the background in this photograph is blurred this makes the technique minimum depth of field to be shown in this photograph. As well as the background being very vibrant contrasts with the dark toned body of the dragon fly. overall I really like this photograph and see it as great inspiration for my own personal project.
This photograph is a photograph of a collection of butterflies at night resting stationary on leaves. This photograph is very unique as it looks very unrealistic and three dimensional. The reason for this is because the beaming colours of the butterflies bring out the shiny and silk texture very well and make them look very aesthetically pretty showing the true beauty of nature. Furthermore I really like how this close up photograph has focused on a group of butterflies instead of one indivdual butterfly this is because it makes this photograph very different and unique compared to other close up photographs I have viewed. Therefore giving me another idea that I can inspire to develop and attempt in my own photography work.
The influence that I have gained from Grahem Owen's work was that by capturing for example nature in close up I should focus on allowing the detail to be shown much clearer to show the natures beauty. The photographs that Grahem has captured are stunning and the angles he captures them in are all different. This allows me to gain the influence of including different angles in my work to make sure the photographs I capture show off the for example flower in the best angle possible.
Overall all his work best show how to make the colours and detail best stand out using the technique close up. I really like how the angles also allow the colours and detail to be shown with much more depth. This is because this then makes his work more intriguing to look at as it allows the viewers to see features they havnt noticed before which will amaze them.
