This photograph was taken for the technique of image within image. This photograph was constructed by photographing Demi in front of a plant holding a frame up. In this photograph I had to make sure that Demi's hands weren't inside the frame as this would ruin the affect of the image being within the image. In photoshop I then adjusted the curves and levels and then used the eraser tool to erase inside the frame so that the layer underneath was shown. I feel that this technique has worked very well and because of the brightness and vibrant colours it produces a positive summer feel to the photograph. Furthermore the framing of this photograph has been taken very accurately as the positioning of Demi has allowed the background to be seen very clearly. Overall I am very happy with this photograph and how it has turned out.
To improve this shoot I feel I should of experimented more with technique by photographing more than one photograph for the technique image within image. This is because this would of allowed me to be more creative and change the location to show the thought I had behind the different photographs.

Personal video shoot 9- Work diary
This video was produced to show my creativity and experiment with the different transitions and effects in premiere pro. The simple idea of Addy walking up and down the stairs, through a door and across corridors has given me a good starting point to edit with. This is because I have used the effects of cross dissolve, dip to black, wave, black and white and zooming to make this video very arty. Furthermore I feel my strengths in this video is the framing of each movement as I have made sure that Addy isn't cut out of the shots and I have also used a range of low angle shots to make this video more interesting. However my weakness in this video is how unsteady the shots are this could have been resolved by using a stand to lock down the camera so that the shots weren't shaky. Overall I am very happy with the video I have made as I feel I experimented a lot into the editing process by using different transitions and effects.
If I would go back and add more to this video I would of used more people in the clips to express a more of a fun vibe to the video. In the editing process I would of also used music to show more of my skills in the technique video.

Evaluation
The project brief I chose to do was 'Close ups' I chose this project brief because I felt that this technique can be used for almost anything in my everyday life without me even realising. This technique can also be used outside and in the studio which will give me a variety of locations in my photographs. So far I have really enjoyed photographing close ups as its a very creative topic which allows me to be very imaginative. I also find it very interesting as the detail that is shown in each of my photographs are something that is fun to edit and experiment with. Also I haven't yet ran out of ideas therefore this project so far hasn't been a struggle which is why I am enjoying it. Furthermore I found that all the techniques that I learnt and explored before my project has extremely helped me. This is because I can develop my photographs by using some of the techniques to make my work look more complex. For example I used my personal shoot 1 photographing close ups of flowers and edited it into multiple imagery. This made this photograph more striking to look at.
I feel so far I have been very organised with this personal project this is because I have planned all my shoots so far in advance. This has made the shoots very successful and not rushed. I have also made sure I complete work diary's and technique pages straight after I have completed a shoot, this is so that I don't forget what I had recently shot and the strengths and weaknesses of it.Overall I feel that I have kept up to date with all my written work and photography shoots allowing this project to be stress free. However the thing I have found so far in this project is the research log as it took me while to find macro photographers that stood out to me. This took me longer than I thought it would however it has now allowed me to gain a lot of inspiration for my project.
In addition I feel that I have made a lot of progress since my previous projects this is because of my organisation and ideas. I feel because this personal project is a brief of my choice I enjoy what I have chosen and the ideas I have are so far are chosen with out struggle. I also feel the techniques and editing skills I have learnt building up to this project have given me more confidence to experiment with my ideas and develop them instead of choosing the easy option. I also feel I am more aware of how to use Photoshop and my knowledge of this has grown. Overall I feel that I am improving especially with my photographs as I now focus on the framing and composition of them and not just the focus of them.

Personal shoot 5- Work Diary
This photograph was taken for my personal project 'Close ups' and the theme of this shoot was sweets. I chose the organisation of this photograph to be random because I felt it would make the photograph look more vibrant and fun. The idea of editing this photograph as black and white and then using the eraser tool to bring back selective colours was because I felt that this would show my creative skills better and not show exaggerated amount of colour. . Furthermore I feel that this photograph was taken very well as the boldness of the sweets have been emphasised by the close up technique. However to improve on this photograph I should of put more of a selection of sweets in the photograph to allow more colours to be shown.
This photograph was taken for my personal project 'Close ups' as well and shows the theme of sweets. I really like this photograph because it allows the formal element of texture to be shown very clear. This is because the fizzy texture is hilighted and makes this photograph very eye catching to look at. In addition the vibrant colours of these sweets also stand out as the close up technique allows them to be seen much brighter therefore grabbing the viewers attention easier. I really like how the sweets are taken in a random order as it makes this photograph look more relastic and fun. If I would improve on anything in this photograph I would of taken this photograph a lot more closer as I feel this would enhance the appearance of the sweets much better.
If I would go back to this shoot I would take more photographs of individual sweets as this will allow no distractions to them and to focus on the boldness of them. I would also take more photographs in general to give me a more wider variety of choice to edit.
The result of this shoot was influenced from the previous shoot of the human eye. This is because I stated in my own work diary that I could use food to add vibrant colors to the human features. However this shoot I was unable to get a model in as they had other commitments. Therefore to develop my idea I photographed food to see if the outcome of close up photograph of foods would produce a very bright and vibrant photograph. The reason I chose sweets was because they contain very sugary textures which make a very fun and tasty photograph.

Slow Sync- technique page
What is slow sync?
Slow sync is where you have a longer shutter speed as well as firing the flash to produce a sharp and blurred photograph.
How do you do it?
Slow sync is where you have a longer shutter speed as well as firing the flash to produce a sharp and blurred photograph.
How do you do it?
- Firstly the aperture has to match the red head with a slow shutter speed to give you the correct exposure.
- Then the flash will be set to match the aperture.
- This will then allow you to capture you photographs which will done by keeping the camera still and the model moving.
Slow Sync- Image bank
This photograph shows the technique slow sync and is a photograph of a young boy swinging on a tire swing. The slow sync is shown in this photograph because the background is a blur and the young boy is in focus. I really like how the vibrant blurred colours in the background stand out this is because they make this photograph look striking. Furthermore the idea of using slow sync in this photograph allows the child look like he's traveling at speed which brings fun to this photograph.
This photograph shows the technique slow sync and is a photograph of a playing card. The slow sync technique is where one image is blurred and the other is in focus. This photograph is very complex as it has converted the blurred photograph to be black and white and also the camera technique has allowed to images to be shown at speed produces a range of colours in the centre. I really like how this photograph shows overlay with the two hands as well as it makes this photograph look very magical.
This photograph is of a male and female couple dancing together. The slow sync technique allows the viewer to see the movement they are doing in a still image as the background is at a blur. This is very eye catching as it makes this photograph look interesting and also enhances the bright and warming colours in the background. I really like the photographer chose to frame this photographer from there was it upwards as it allows the detail of them to be seen much clearer. Furthermore the slow sync background also allows the couple to express a fun and free vibe.
This photograph was taken using the technique slow sync and is a photograph of a motor bike gliding over a ditch. The reason slow sync was chosen in this photograph was to show to the viewer the extreme speed the motor bike and the man is traveling at. It also makes this photograph much more interesting to look at and allows the colours of the background to be enhanced.
This photograph is one of the best examples I have found as it shows slow sync very well. This is because the man is smiling and moving to the right this then leaves his movement to be shown as a blur and him to be shown as a still image. This photograph is seen to be taken at night which allows all the bright lights to stand out in the background and the man to stand out as he is shown to be very bright.
This photograph is also another good example I found of slow sync this is because it shows the young girls movement through blur and her still movement in focus. I really like the rich colours in this photograph and how this makes this photograph look very eye catching . Furthermore I also like how this photograph was framed as there is space for the blur to stand out as the young girl has been positioned to the right hand side of the photograph.

Slow Sync- Work Diary
This photograph was captured for the technique of slow sync and to begin with was very hard to capture a in focus and blurred photograph. However as I became aware of what angle to take these photographs. This photograph was taken and I feel shows the technique slow sync very well. This is because the action the model is doing is swaying her head back and forth. The slow sync technique allows the movement of her head to been shown blurred and another head to be shown sharp and in focus. This makes this photograph very intriguing and different to view in the audiences perspective.
This photograph was also taken for the technique slow sync. This photograph is showing the movement of the model flicking her hair side to side. I feel that I captured this photograph at the right time as her hair is shown to be flicked in the air. This photograph shows half her face in focus and half her face blurred which gives a mysterious feel to this photograph. Overall I feel that the framing of this photograph has been taken allowing room for her movement and shows enough of her chest to make a eye catching photograph.
If I would go back and add to this shoot slow sync I would firstly take more photographs so it would give me more of a choice of photographs to edit. I would also capture more walking photographs as I feel the ones I took turned out average however I could improve on them.

Studio Blurring- Work diary
This photograph was taken using the technique studio blur. This was done by using a slow shutter speed and no usage of lights only the red head. The background was chosen to be black as this was the obvious back drop for this technique. This allows the model who is moving to stand out and show the blurring to be more obvious. The action the model is doing in this photograph is spinning. This is very affective because her head doubles to emphasis the speed she is moving at. Furthermore I especially like how her hair is moving in one direction as this makes this photograph very graceful and eye catching.
This photograph was also captured for the technique of studio blurring. This photograph shows a different movement to the photograph above as the model is swinging her arms up and down. I captured the photograph when she was raising one arm and dropping the other. I feel this looks very eye catching as it shows a wild side to her personality and brings out more positivity in this blurring photograph. Furthermore to improve this photograph I could of taken it portrait to get all her body in to show a party vibe to the photograph.
If I would go back and add to this shoot I would spend more time to capture more photographs and I would also take more photographs where all her body was in the shot. However I really like the photographs I have captured and feel that this technique was challenging however the outcome was very successful in my eyes.

Work Diary- Personal shoot 4
This photograph was taken for my fourth personal shoot and the theme of this shoot was close ups of the facial feature eyes. This photograph was taken as a self portrait and was set up to have the exact focus and zoom needed so that I could take each photograph with a flow without having to change any settings for each photograph. This photograph was taken extremely close up and the reason I'm looking upwards in this photograph is so that my eye lashes look extended and my pupil is shown much bolder and clearer. To edit this photograph I firstly cropped the unwanted space and adjusted the curves and levels. I then changed the layer to black and white and using the eraser tool I rubbed out the effect in my pupil. This I feel is very affective as the drawn attention is on the colour in my eye. Furthermore by using close up photography of my eye has allows all the fine details to be shown which makes this photograph stunning to view.
This photograph is showing fine art as its very pleasing to look at because of its prettify features. This photograph of my eye was taken at a more diagonal angle which allows some of my skin and strands of hair to be in the photograph. The editing side of this photograph was very simple as all I did was adjust the levels and curves and vibrancy of the photograph. This makes this photograph stand out and look very eye catching as it grabs the viewers attention immediately through the detail shown. In addition because of the close up technique being used it allows the delicate and glossy texture to been shown much clear and the features of the eyes to be shown to be very intriguing to look at.
If I would go back and add to this shoot I would take more closer photographs focusing on different parts of the eyes and then presenting them in a multiple imagery grid to show a more creative skill in my shoot.
This shoot was influenced by the planning that I had written in the work diary prior to this shoot. This is because I had written that I should capture a shoot on human or animal features to show how my close up photographs link to fine art. This is because of the variety of photographs that can be categorized as fine art photography is immense that it is a must that I make sure my work is contrasting. These photographs that I took for the human eye shoot are very soft and the glossy texture and intriguing detail of the human eye are highlighted very well. Therefore to develop these photographs I could involve for example food to add vibrant colors to the human features.

Photographer 3
Martin Schoeller
I chose the photographer Martin Schoeller to explore further into his work because he captures close ups of the humans face and enhances their individual features by using this technique. He also uses well known celebrity faces to show their natural beauty which I like as it doesn't copy how the media portray them. Furthermore I also was intrigued with how he framed his photographs as they are very accurate and this will help me with framing my own photographers as when photographing close ups the detail and composition needs to be perfect for it to look professional.
This group of photographs is taken by the photographer Martin Schoeller and shows close up portraits. I really like this photograph as it shows how everyone is different and by putting different ages and genders together allows the uniqueness of each of them to stand out. The sharpness of these photographs are very high quality and the light grey backgrounds allow there natural beauty to stand out as well. I really like the idea of putting four photographs together as it makes the photographs look more interesting and eye catching to look at. Furthermore the framing of each photograph has been taken very neatly and accuately to allow the close up technique to be shown in each of them. The technique close up allows all there features to be shown with much clearer and bolder detail which is one of my favourite parts of this photograph.
This photograph was taken by the photographer 'Martin Schoeller' and the celebrity he has photographed is Angelina Jolie. The aim of this photograph is to show natural beauty and go against the media as most celebrities are shown in the media as very false. However to show the natural beauty of Angelina Jolie
her make up has been applied with soft tones and neutral colours. The framing of this photograph has been taken very well this is because the close up technique used in this photograph only has her face in the photograph this allows all her facial features to be shown with much better detail and quality. I really like the way the photograph is angled at this is because its slightly low angled to enhance her lips this makes the detail of her lips stand out and be seen as the main focus. Furthermore this could also create a seductive look for her however I feel it makes her natural beauty stand out.

This photograph was taken by the photographer Martin Schoeller and is taken of the celebrity Katy Perry. This photograph is more glamorous and the typical media photograph. This is because her make up has been applied with huge detail and her tones of make up are much darker. This photograph has been taken with a slight low angle to it this allows her cheek bones and lips to stand out more and make this photograph look more eye catching. I really like the vibrance and tones of her lipstick as it allows the glossy texture to stand out. Furthermore the framing of this photograph has been taken very well as there is no excess space or any other imagery distracting the main focus of this portrait. By using the technique close up allows all of her main facial features to stand out. For example her eyes look very bold and iconic which makes this photograph sensational and grab my attention immediately.
This photograph was also taken by the photographer Martin Schoeller and is a close up photograph of the celebrity Britney Spears. This photograph is very different to the photographs above as it has been converted to black and white. I really like this effect because it allows the light and dark tones to be seen more in detail and makes her facial features stand out. The complexity of her skin is flawless and this has makes this photograph look beautiful. Furthermore the use of the formal element tone also makes the main focus of her eyes stand out as the dark tones round them beam with boldness. In addition the use of the technique close up which is my personal project brief name is very affective because it allows the framing of this photograph to be very neat and well structured. As well as allowing all the detail that the viewers may not see if this photograph was taken as a wide angle for example. Overall I really like this photograph as it allows the natural beauty to be enhanced by the framing and editing skills of this photographer.
The influences that Martin Schoeller gave me for my own work were that having someones simple natural face which is facing directly at the camera is very affective and creates very nice tones. These photographs especially the photographs above have given me a start to an idea. This is where I will plan a shoot capturing close up photographs of a person's face focusing on bright colours which will be showing the idea of Martin Schoeller;s photographs expanded.
In summary I really like Martin's work as it concentrates on one idea for close ups. This allows me to get a better idea and understanding on how to accurately frame close up photographs using models and to plan a shoot that will have his inspiration included in it. I also really like how some of his photographs are in colour and some edited in black and white. This shows his editing techniques and how different tones can be shown in both. Overall Martin has been very interesting to explore and his work is again one of my influences that has allowed me to be successful in my shoots.

Multiple flash- technique page
What is Multiple flash?
It is a simultaneous use of the same flash to get an outcome of a repeated and stylised photograph.
How do you do it?
It is a simultaneous use of the same flash to get an outcome of a repeated and stylised photograph.
How do you do it?
- Firstly you make sure you are in a dark room where there is no light coming through
- Secondly you use no lights you only turn them on when you want to focus the camera
- Next you make sure the settings are on B which stands for bulb and you have an accurate appature to give you enough exposure.
- This then allows you to hold down the camera and click the flash do automate the shutter speed to take the photographs
Multiple flash- work diary
This photograph was taken for part of my experimenting with the technique multiple flash. This photograph is of my model Beth and was simply taken of her moving to left three times. This is a very simple photograph for multiple flash however is very unique and gives me a solid start to the following photographs I had taken. To edit this photograph I simply adjusted the curves and level to allow the photograph to brighten and stand out. I feel the best feature of this photograph is how well framed it is as there is enough distance between each of the photographs of beth and the framing is very tight to allow only the multiple flash to be shown.
This photograph was also taken for my technique photography of multiple flash. This photograph was more thought through and shows the theme of abuse as the punching action and pain in her face show an example of what abuse is. Furthermore the editing of this photograph was also simply adjusting the curves and levels. However this time I adjusted the curves a bit more to allow the photograph on the left getting punched to be red to show the stress and pain in her face. Lastly the framing of this photograph I feel has been done very well this is because both of there bodies are accurately in the photograph leaving enough distance from each other to show the meaning of the photograph. If I would go back and add to this multiple flash studio shoot I would take more photographs of hand actions to create different patterns of movement.
Personal shoot 3- work diary
This photograph was taken for my project close ups and was my third shoot for this project. This shoot was taking close ups and extreme close ups of Tango cherry cans. The idea behind this was so that the close ups allow the shiny and glossy texture to stand out as well as the vibrant red and black colours to make this photograph very bold to look at. I feel that this photograph meets them requirements and also is shown to be very complex using the formal element of depth to make this photograph of four cans more intriguing to view. Furthermore the angle that this photograph was taken allows the lighting to bounce of the cans and create them to look very surreal and false. This made the editing stage very enjoyable as the more I adjusted the curves, levels and saturation the more the photograph became even more eye catching and sharp to look at. I am very happy with this photograph and feel that it is one of my best framed photographs so far.
This photograph was also taken for my personal project close ups and is a photograph of Tango cherry cans. The idea behind the organisation of this photograph is that by positioning them one behind each other but diagonally allows each one to be seen and the logo to slowly be less seen. This allows the closest can's logo to be extremely bold and the main focus as the others fade behind it getting smaller and smaller. This photograph also shows the formal element of depth of field and is shown in a complex and creative way. I especially like how bright and vibrant the colors are I done this by adjusting the curves and levels and then adjusting the saturation to allow the colors of pink and blue to be applied to the photograph to make this photograph stand out and more and give it a variety of colors instead of just red and black. Furthermore I am very happy with the way this photograph has turned out and how well the framing and composition has been taken to make this photograph very clear what technique is being used.
If I would go back and add to this shoot I would take more birds eye view photographs as the formal element of depth was used a lot. I would also get a more better range of cans to mix the style and colors up to add to my creativity in the editing stage.
As a result of this shoot I have realized that I really enjoy capturing photographs in the studio this is because of the lighting and facilities of the lighting boom has allowed myself to be very creative and capture photographs at a very professional look. However prior to this shoot I have also captured another man made object shoot as this was a development from it. Therefore to make sure my work is very versatile I have decided for a future shoot I should capture a humans or animals feature to show more skills in my photographs.

Therefore to make sure my work is very versatile I have decided for a future shoot I should capture a humans or animals feature to show more skills in my photographs.
